The deep part of the posterior compartment of the forearm lies beneath the superficial extensor muscles, adjacent to the radius, ulna, and interosseous membrane. These muscles are primarily responsible for extension of the thumb and index finger, as well as supination of the forearm. Their distal insertions allow precise control of the index finger and the thumb, making them essential for intricate hand movements.
