The arm muscles are a group of five muscles that surround the humerus and lie between the shoulder joint and the elbow joint. These muscles primarily contribute to flexion or extension. They are arranged into two distinct functional compartments that are defined by the brachial fascia, the humerus, and the medial and lateral intermuscular septa.
