The extensor carpi radialis brevis is a slim, long, fusiform-shaped muscle that lies in the superficial part of the posterior compartment of the forearm. It extends between the humerus and the third metacarpal bone. This muscle lies deep and posterior to the extensor carpi radialis longus muscle. Among the two extensor carpi radialis muscles, the extensor carpi radialis brevis is shorter. Additionally, this muscle lies between the brachioradialis and the extensor digitorum.
