The extensor digiti minimi is a long, slender, fusiform forearm muscle that lies in the superficial part of the posterior compartment. It extends from the distal humerus to the fifth finger. This muscle is an extrinsic hand muscle, and it extends the fifth finger at the metacarpophalangeal and proximal and distal interphalangeal joints.
