The middle or intermediate muscles of the hand are a group of several intrinsic hand muscles that are located between the metacarpal bones. Unlike the lateral and medial muscle groups of the hand, these muscles do not form a visible surface eminence. This group includes the lumbricals and interossei muscles, which primarily act on the metacarpophalangeal and interphalangeal joints of the fingers.
