The shoulder joint - also called the glenohumeral joint, is strengthened by three ligaments:

Coracohumeral ligament - extends from the coracoid process of the scapula to the greater tubercle of the humerus;
Coracoacromial ligament - stretches from the coracoid process to the acromion of the scapula; it forms the upper vault of the shoulder joint and strengthens the joint from above;
Transverse humeral ligament - extends between the lesser tubercle and greater tubercle of the humerus above the epiphyseal line.
