The hiatus for the greater petrosal nerve is a small and oblique opening located on the anterior surface of the petrous part of the temporal bone. It is found lateral to the trigeminal impression. It transmits the greater petrosal nerve and connects with the facial canal. It is also known as Torin's hole or facial hiatus.
