Supraorbital foramen (or notch)
The supraorbital foramen is a small opening in the supraorbital margin of the frontal bone. It is found lateral to the frontal foramen/frontal notch at the junction between the medial one-third and the lateral two-thirds of the supraorbital margin.
Sometimes, this opening presents as a notch instead of a foramen. A person might also have both - a supraorbital foramen in one supraorbital margin and a supraorbital notch in the other.
Connects: orbit to the outer aspect of the skull (external environment); pierces the supraorbital margin of the frontal bone.
Location: squamous part of the frontal bone.
Transmits: supraorbital nerve (branch of the frontal nerve), supraorbital artery (branch of the ophthalmic artery), and supraorbital vein.
