The cuneiform bones are a group of three similarly-shaped bones that are found on the medial side of the foot. They are positioned between the navicular bone proximally, the first three metatarsal bones distally, and the cuboid bone laterally. Besides the articulations with the mentioned bones, the cuneiforms also articulate with each other. These bones participate in forming the transverse arch of the foot, and they serve as stabilizing structures.
