Lacrimal bone (overview and surfaces)

The lacrimal bone is a paired, somewhat rectangular-shaped bone of the viscerocranium that forms the anterior aspect of the medial wall of the bony orbit. It is positioned between the frontal process of the maxilla and the ethmoid bone. The lacrimal bone is thin and very fragile. It is the size of the fingernail and thus is the smallest bone of the skull.
