The spleen is fixed in its place by surrounding organs, intra-abdominal pressure, and ligaments. All ligaments that fix the spleen are components of the greater omentum.

Gastrosplenic ligament - a broad but thin delicate ligament that passes anterior to the splenic hilum, connecting the splenic hilum with the superior third of the greater curvature of the stomach; contains short gastric arteries, short gastric veins, left gastroepiploic (gastroomental) artery, left gastroepiploic (gastroomental) vein, and their associated lymphatics; usually, a small portion of this ligaments blends with the phrenicocolic ligament; it is continuous with the splenorenal ligament.
Splenorenal (lienorenal) ligament - extends posteriorly to the splenic hilum, connecting the splenic hilum to the anterior aspect of the left kidney; it transmits the splenic artery and splenic vein; also, the tail of the pancreas lies within this ligament.
Phrenicosplenic ligament - connects the inferior (abdominal) surface of the diaphragm to the posterior extremity of the spleen; it is a continuation of the gastrosplenic ligament; it is often absent or not fully developed.
Splenocolic ligament - a short ligament that connects the anterior extremity of the spleen to the left colic (splenic) flexure.
Pancreaticosplenic ligament - a thin and cord-like ligament that is not always present; it is only present when the tail of the pancreas does not touch the spleen; it connects the tail of the pancreas to the anterior extremity of the spleen.
Phrenicocolic ligament - this ligament is not directly connected to the spleen but plays an essential role in its fixation; connects the left colic (splenic) flexure with the diaphragm near the eleventh rib; this ligament is found inferior and lateral to the spleen; although it does not directly attach to the spleen, it supports its anterior extremity; it is also known as the Hensing's ligament.
