The temporal fossa has only one opening - zygomaticotemporal foramen (Read more!). It is found on the temporal surface of the zygomatic bone near the frontal process. This opening leads into the zygomatic canals and transmits the same named nerve (zygomaticotemporal nerve (branch of the zygomatic nerve)). The zygomaticotemporal foramen connects the temporal fossa to the orbit.
