The distal epiphysis - distal end or extremity of the radius is the part of the bone that is the closest to the wrist. When compared to the proximal end, the distal end is wider in diameter. The distal portion of the diaphysis gradually flares out towards the wrist joint and expands, forming a rectangular-shaped distal epiphysis.
