The third metacarpal bone is the second longest metacarpal. This bone differs from the rest of the metacarpals by a short and blunt projection called the styloid process. This process can be viewed on the dorsal aspect of the bone. Moreover, it is found on the radial side of the base and extends proximally into the angle between the trapezoid and capitate.
