The retina is the inner layer of the eyeball, lining the internal surface of the vascular layer. It is the most highly developed tissue of the eye, located in the posterior segment of the eyeball. It is continuous with the optic nerve (CN II) (Read more!), extending from the point where the optic nerve exits the eyeball to the ora serrata, which is an irregular, jagged line at the anterior limit of the optic retina.
