The cornea is a transparent, convex, circular dome-shaped anterior portion of the outer layer of the eyeball. It is found in the center of the anterior eyeball, forming the anterior one-sixth of the fibrous layer. It covers the pupil (Read more!), iris (Read more!), and anterior chamber (Read more!). Anteriorly, it is moistened by tears, but is not covered by the conjunctiva. The cornea is thinner at its center and thicker at its periphery.
