Posterior femoral cutaneous nerve

The posterior femoral cutaneous nerve is a sensory nerve that arises from the anterior divisions of the ventral rami of the second and third sacral nerves (S2 - S3) and from the posterior divisions of the ventral rami of the first and second sacral nerves (S1 - S2). Occasionally, it may receive contributions from the fourth sacral nerve (S4). This nerve is also known as the posterior cutaneous nerve of the thigh. It innervates the posterior aspect of the thigh, gluteal and perineal regions, and the popliteal fossa.
