Lateral femoral cutaneous nerve

The lateral femoral cutaneous nerve is a sensory nerve of the lumbar plexus. It arises from the posterior divisions of the ventral rami of the second and third lumbar nerves (L2 and L3). This nerve innervates the anterolateral and lateral thigh. Occasionally, it may arise from the first and second lumbar nerves (L1 and L2) or the third and fourth lumbar nerves (L3 and L4). It is also known as the lateral cutaneous nerve of thigh.
