Inferior gluteal artery

The inferior gluteal artery is a large terminal branch of the anterior trunk of the internal iliac artery (Read more!). After arising, it descends posteriorly along the medial surface of the piriformis, typically between the S2 and S3 or the S1 and S2 sacral nerves. In addition, this artery descends between the piriformis and coccygeus muscles. It travels posterior to the internal pudendal vessels and anterior to the sacral plexus.
