As the name suggests, the vesical veins form a network that drains blood from the urinary bladder. They arise from the vesical venous plexus that surrounds the urinary bladder, and communicate with other pelvic venous plexuses (such as the prostatic venous plexus in males and the vaginal venous plexus and uterine venous plexus in females), contributing to a complex venous network of the pelvis.
