The supraspinous ligament (supraspinal ligament) is a strong cord-like band that connects the apices of adjacent spinous processes. It arises from the tip of the spinous process of the seventh cervical vertebra (C7) (Read more!) and extends downward along most of the length of the spine. The supraspinous ligament terminates at the level of the lower lumbar vertebrae (most commonly at the L4) or the sacrum.
