Coronary artery dominance is defined by the coronary artery that gives off the posterior descending artery (PDA). This artery is also called the posterior or inferior interventricular artery, as it travels along the posterior interventricular sulcus towards the heart apex. At the apex of the heart, it anastomoses with the left anterior descending artery (LAD) of the left coronary artery (LCA).
