The arterial blood supply of the stomach derives from the celiac trunk.

Overall, the following arteries supply the stomach:

Right gastric artery - originates from either the common hepatic artery (branch of the celiac trunk) or the proper hepatic artery; travels along the lesser curvature and supplies its lower aspect; terminates by anastomosing with the left gastric artery;
Left gastric artery - arises directly from the celiac trunk; goes along the lesser curvature and supplies its upper portion;
Right gastroepiploic (gastroomental) artery - runs along the greater curvature and anastomoses with the left gastroepiploic (gastroomental) artery; it is a terminal branch of the gastroduodenal artery (branch of the common hepatic artery);
Left gastroepiploic (gastroomental) artery - travels along the greater curvature and supplies its lower aspect; arises from the splenic artery;
Short gastric arteries - several small vessels that arise from the terminal portion of the splenic artery and supply the fundus.

Vessels that go along the greater and lesser curvatures penetrate the submucosa and form abundant collaterals. These vessels found within the stomach walls are called the intramural vessels. All of them are usually interconnected, forming an extensive vascular network. They usually remain filled even when one of the major gastric arteries has been ligated.
