The vagina is an elastic muscular canal, which is about 3 to 4 inches (8 - 10 cm) long and belongs to the internal female genital organs. It connects the uterus with the external genital organs (vulva). The vagina ends with an opening - the vaginal orifice - in the vestibule of the vagina located posterior to the external urethral opening between the labia minora.
