The ascending tracts carry sensory nerve fibers coming from the nerve cell bodies that are located in the dorsal root ganglion. Sensory information is further transmitted through a series of neurons that synapse with each other in different places of the central nervous system. The ascending pathways are found in all funiculi of the spinal cord.
