Thoracic aorta (descending thoracic aorta)

The thoracic aorta is a portion of the descending aorta that travels through the thorax. This part of the aorta is also known as the descending thoracic aorta. It is the longest portion of the aorta and a continuation of the aortic arch (Read more!). It begins at the left side of the body of the fourth thoracic vertebra (T4).
