As mentioned before, the gallbladder is surrounded by the peritoneum, except its superior aspect, which lies in the gallbladder fossa of the liver, directly connecting with the visceral surface of the liver.

Overall, the gallbladder is related to the following structures:

The fundus is related to the inferior border of the liver. However, it often extends outside the inferior border of the liver and connects with the transverse colon (Read more!) and anterior abdominal wall.
Besides the visceral surface of the liver, the body usually also relates to the right colic (hepatic) flexure, the proximal part of the transverse colon and the descending part of the duodenum (Read more!) posteriorly.
The neck communicates with the superior part of the duodenum (Read more!) posteriorly and the visceral surface of the liver anteriorly.

Note: When enlarged, the fundus of the gallbladder can sometimes be felt by touch (palpated) at the site where the lateral border of the right rectus abdominis muscle crosses the right costal arch, approximately at the ninth costal cartilage level.
