The levatores costarum muscles (sing. Levator costae) is a group of small triangular-shaped thoracic wall muscles located in the posterior thorax. They are found on each side of the thoracic spine, stretching between the transverse processes of the thoracic vertebrae and ribs. These muscles lie superficially to the external intercostal muscles.
