The body is the largest part of the pancreas. It lies behind the stomach and crosses the spine from the right to the left side at the level of the first lumbar vertebra (L1) (Read more!). It also travels over the abdominal aorta. The body of the pancreas is positioned on the left side of the superior mesenteric artery and vein.
