The axillary nerve arises from the posterior fascicle of the brachial plexus. It travels down the anterior surface of the subscapularis muscle and reaches the posterior wall of the axillary fossa. Upon exiting the axilla (armpit), the nerve loops around the surgical neck of the humerus and branches in the deltoid muscle
