The ligaments of the leg include ligaments strengthening the tibiofibular joint and tibiofibular syndesmosis.

The tibiofibular joint is a immobile synovial joint between the lateral tibial condyle and head of the fibula, and it is strengthened by the following ligaments:

• Anterior ligament of the fibular head
• Posterior ligament of the fibular head

The tibiofibular syndesmosis is a continuous joint formed between the fibular notch of the tibia and distal epiphysis of the fibula, and it is strengthened by two ligaments:

• Anterior tibiofibular ligament
• Posterior tibiofibular ligament

There is also a fibrous structure connecting the tibia and fibula known as the interosseous membrane of the leg, also referred to as the middle tibiofibular ligament. It is located in the interosseous space of the leg and extends between the interosseous margin of the tibia and the interosseous margin of the fibula.
