Internal cranial base (fossae)
The inner aspect of the internal cranial base can be subdivided into three regions: anterior cranial fossa (the most anterior portion of the internal cranial base; contains the frontal lobes of the brain), middle cranial fossa (the central part of the internal cranial base; houses the temporal lobes), and posterior cranial fossa (the most posterior part of the internal cranial base; it is the deepest depression; lodges the cerebellum).
